The Anti-Bridezilla

The Beautiful Bride

The Beautiful Bride

It’s always fun to shoot weddings and be a part of someone’s special day. It’s an honor and a privilege, and as a wedding photographer I hope to never forget that, no matter how many weddings I’m a part of. Especially at elopements. So often the prevailing attitude among some photographers is that somehow elopements are not as important because there’s not as many in attendance or they aren’t spending as much. I believe just the opposite. Someone who has made the decision to only have a select few or even no one else at all in attendance highly values this moment and is very careful regarding who is a part of their day and their memories. I do not take this lightly. I love weddings — I love everything about them. I love the vows, the nerves, the bling, the rings, the simplicity of capturing smiles and the uniting of two hearts before our Maker.

In this particular photo, the day did not go as planned. This poor bride and groom showed up to the hair appointment only to have the salon closed for the day, the restaurant lose their dinner reservation, and to top things off it hailed during their ceremony forcing them to cancel their outdoor ceremony plans. And yet, I watched as this couple took every disappointment in stride and focus on the one thing that was important–getting hitched. This photo captures this wonderfully calm and collected bride taking a moment to breathe, smile, and prepare the last bits of beauty before saying her “I do’s.”

Beautiful.

Beautiful Bride – View of a Best Friend

Beautiful Bride

Today’s bride is special to me. Very rare occasion that I shoot weddings of people I actually know. I was asked to shoot my best friend’s wedding…and then I was asked to BE in the wedding. Don’t know if I pulled either role off very well, but I absolutely love this photo and am honored to have been there to take it.

Hola.

Fiesta Lizzard

Hola.

This photo of the day was taken in Cabo San Lucas while on a work trip in 2010 (I know, rough life.) While waiting at the market, I took the photo and didn’t realize that I was supposed to pay to have the privilege to do so. Oops. This lizard cost me some pesos. Thanks amigo.

My Client Fell Over

Baby Photography - little fingers

Black & Wednesday – Baby Photography

Shot outdoors by the river in South Fork, Colorado at the Arbor House Inn Bed & Breakfast— this family portrait session featuring six-month-old baby Saige just couldn’t get any more adorable. Still working on her sitting skills, my client had previously fallen over (as in flat out face in the grass) and needed some assistance to continue her super sweet modeling session. Her daddy came to the rescue. Sometimes we all need a little hand-holding assistance.

Spice It Up

Ashography - Fancy Feet

This was one of my first shoots for a client who owned a fitness studio in Southern California and needed photos for her business. Towards the end of the session she asked if she could don some new duds and get a few personal photos with her boyfriend’s bike. No problem. The shoot itself took a turn in a different direction than originally anticipated and ended up being more of a boudoir session. There is no doubt she had a rockin’ good time adding a little spice to the day, and the only thing I regret is that she wouldn’t let me keep her fabulous boots!
